Cooperantes venezolanos se forman en la Fundación Mestral

Cooperantes venezolanos, de la organización no gubernamental EFIP (Equipo de Formación, Información y Publicaciones) realizan una estancia en Menorca para conocer de cerca la experiencia de la Fundación Mestral y trasladarla a su país de origen. José Luis Bolívar, presidente de la entidad, Omaira Valbuena, responsable de una de las delegaciones regionales de EFIP en Venezuela, y Julio Fermín, coordinador general, llegaron a la Isla el pasado día 10 y de la mano de Caritas Diocesana han conocido el funcionamiento de la planta de Mestral en Maó –al pie de los talleres–, así como la gestión y dirección de un proyecto mucho más amplio que el del reciclaje, ya que permite la inserción social y laboral de personas en riesgo de exclusión.
EFIP inició hace seis años, a raíz de una estancia en Mallorca con la Fundació Deixalles, su propio programa de gestión de residuos y de inserción laboral en la región de Vargas, a 20 minutos de Caracas, y el estado de Zulia. “Son centros más pequeños que el de Mestral”, explicaron ayer, “no se tratan residuos voluminosos sino básicos, con la selección de vidrio y papel”. Los miembros de EFIP aseguran que en Venezuela existe el marco legal para la protección ambiental y el reciclaje pero no políticas concretas, por lo que queda todavía mucho camino que recorrer en materia de concienciación.
Jóvenes y madres solteras
La vertiente social del proyecto de gestión de residuos es, al igual que en Mestral, un pilar básico dentro de la actividad de EFIP, una entidad que nace en 1972 para potenciar la formación, el asociacionismo y la cooperación. Más de 200 personas han pasado por los centros de reciclaje que ha creado la organización, en su mayoría menores de 30 años. El perfil de los usuarios de los talleres varía en relación a la experiencia menorquina, aunque presenta como denominador común el riesgo de exclusión. EFIP dirige su actividad a formar y ofrecer “una cultura laboral” a jóvenes y madres solteras, ya que en Venezuela se da un elevado índice de embarazos adolescentes. El enfoque integral de Mestral y la buena respuesta ciudadana son elementos que destacan de su experiencia en la Isla.
