El Zulia celebró el 18º Día Mundial de las Playas

Este Sábado 20 de Septiembre, luego de una intensa lluvia que bañó al Zulia, acudieron a sus costas cientos de voluntarios para diagnósticar el estado de salud ambiental o de contaminación de las playas del Zulia.
El estado Zulia es un entidad de agua, cuenta con un amplio y variado sistema costero, tanto en el Lago de Maracaibo como en el mar Caribe, además de los 135 ríos de la cuenca del lago y los innumerables humedales, que incluye al sitio Ramsar, La Laguna de Oribor o conocidan mejor como la laguna de los Olivitos.
En palabras de Beatriz Nava, Gerente de AZUL (Ambientalistas del Zulia) en esta mayoría de edad del Día Mundial de las Playas seguimos viendo que dominan en las orillas de las playas, en primer lugar basura como: botellas, cauchos, cartónes,otros objetos y pedazos de plástico, cosa que coincide con la descripción de otras regiones de nuestra República Bolivariana de Venezuela y con otros paises.
En la playa los equipos de voluntarios realizan labores para diagnósticar, recuperar y limpiar las orillas de las playas. Aprenden haciendo, para lo cual se forman equipos de tres personas: una anota en la ficha de descripción, otra recoge los desechos sólidos y la otra lleva la bolsa plástica de recoleción hasta un lugar previamente seleccionado, donde las alcaldías se encargan de recoger las bolsa de desechos para llevarlas al vertedero municipal, concretando la recuperación ambiental de las playas. Al terminar su labor los voluntarios se disponen adisfrutar plácidamente en las aguas del sitio atendido y compartir entre si, afirmo Nava.
En este momento tenemos dos problemas en las costas, expresó Elio Ríos Vicepresidente de AZUL, por un lado las actividades humanas (domiciliartias, laborales, de recreación y turismo) impactan la costa dejando en ella desechos que contaminan su integridad. Por el otro el calentamiento global ha empezado a descongelar los polos, recientes noticias sobre el polo norte y la expedición uruguaya - venezolana este mismo año trajo lamentables noticias sobre lo mismo en la Antártida. Este descongelamiento hace que tengamos una masa líquida de agua mayor en el mar y éste se meterá al espacio continental e insular, por lo cual nuestro país debe tomar medidas para que este fenómeno además de cambiar la costa nos haga perder espacio soberano, expresó Ríos.
Es el caso de la playa de Oribor en Quisiro al norte del Municipio Miranda de nuestro estado, en donde el mar se adentró mas de doscientos metros, es de investigar, el calentamiento global está afectando a las playas de la República Bolivariana Venezuela. Y el grupo de islas de Las Aves que nos da soberanía muy al norte en el Caribe, quizás pudieran desaparecer. Ríos hizo un llamado a las autoridades de INEA, la Fuerza Armada Nacional Bolivariana, al mismo presidente de la República Hugo Chávez y a los diferentes institutos científicos con el Instituto Venezolano de Investigaciones Científicas (I.V.I.C) al frente, para que se haga un diagnóstico, proyección y un plan de contingencia para esta problemática de la costa con el sobrecalentamiento global en afección a la integridad de la costa y de la soberanía de la República.
